We come from a long line of coffee growers and our agricultural practices have been inherited from father to son for over six generations.
Back in 1870, Fabio Morán and Epifanio Silva decided to conquer this hostile territory, sowing coffee trees in one of the highest summits of the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range. They named the farm La Siberia, for its chaotic weather conditions, along with its difficult accessibility.
One century later, Rafael Silva inherited the property. It is located between 1,450 and 1650 meters above sea level. He has worked it up to be one of the best coffee producing farms in the world.
As the years went on, Rafael inherited half of La Fany estate and the other half was inherited by his brother Luis. San Cayetano and Llano Grande became part of the family a few years later, both small estates, but big in quality and productivity, which came to enhance the already existing farms. Noruega and La Divina Providencia, both in Apaneca are family owned for more than one hundred years.
Our practices include shade-grown coffee, of which we have two varieties; 75% Bourbon, and 25% Pacamara. Our coffee is picked by hand at perfect ripeness and beans are sundried and raked by hand.
